FG Issues Security Advisory to Nigerians in Iran, Urges Heightened Caution Amid US–Israel Strikes

By Jamisi Newsline

The Federal Government has issued a security advisory urging Nigerians residing in Iran to limit movement and exercise heightened caution following coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel on targets within the Islamic Republic.

In a statement signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government said it is closely monitoring the “evolving and volatile situation” in the Middle East.

The advisory follows reports of explosions and air strikes across Tehran and other Iranian cities in the aftermath of the joint offensive.

Nigerians in Iran and neighbouring Gulf states were urged to remain vigilant at all times and to avoid strategic, military, or government installations that could become flashpoints. The statement further advised citizens to restrict non-essential travel within the region until the security situation stabilises.

The government also cautioned Nigerians to avoid large gatherings and public demonstrations, comply strictly with directives from local authorities, and stay informed through credible local and international media, while being wary of misinformation.

According to the ministry, Nigerian embassies in Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia have been placed on high alert to provide necessary consular assistance.

The Federal Government called on all parties involved to de-escalate tensions and pursue diplomatic solutions in the interest of global peace and coexistence.

Meanwhile, the situation remains fluid, with reports indicating that Iran has launched retaliatory strikes across parts of the Middle East, including against US military bases and Israeli targets, following the initial attacks.
