Political analyst Jide Ojo has described Vice President Kashim Shettima as a solid, dependable, and strategic partner in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, dismissing claims that the vice president has been sidelined or rendered politically irrelevant.
Ojo made the remarks during a recent interview aired by News Central, where he highlighted the critical role Shettima continues to play in strengthening the administration and consolidating the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.
According to the analyst, Vice President Shettima has remained active both locally and internationally, particularly through diplomatic engagements and by representing President Tinubu at key global events. He stressed that since the inauguration of the Tinubu-led government, there has been no record of internal crisis, rivalry, or power struggle between the president and his deputy.
Reacting to speculations surrounding a possible change to the APC presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ojo dismissed such narratives as unfounded. He maintained that Shettima remains a vital figure within the administration and the ruling party.
“The value that Kashim Shettima has brought to the ticket is immense, and he hasn’t betrayed the trust reposed in him,” Ojo said.
He further noted that the vice president’s calm leadership style, loyalty, and vast administrative experience have contributed significantly to the stability of the current government. Ojo added that Shettima has continued to handle sensitive national assignments with professionalism, thereby reinforcing public confidence in the Tinubu administration.
While acknowledging ongoing political speculations in the public space, the analyst insisted that Vice President Shettima remains a trusted ally of President Tinubu and a major asset to the APC.
Ojo concluded by urging Nigerians to shift attention away from early political permutations and instead focus on governance, policy implementation, and national development.
