Secondus, Opara, Omehia, Sekibo Return to Fubara Camp, Pledge Support for Tinubu 2027

Political associates of Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, have formally returned to his political camp, pledging loyalty and committing to the mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Governor Fubara made the disclosure on Wednesday during the New Year Banquet organised by the Rivers State Government at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Port Harcourt.

According to the governor, the returning political heavyweights are prominent former leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and known allies of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, who have now resolved to align with his administration and support President Tinubu.

Those openly identified include former PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Austin Opara; former Rivers State Governor, Sir Celestine Omehia; and former Minister of Transportation, Senator Abiye Sekibo.

Governor Fubara noted that their public appearance and open endorsement had effectively silenced insinuations and political blackmail suggesting that he was working with forces opposed to the President.

He stressed that the presence of the political leaders at the banquet was a clear message to the world that they stood firmly with his administration and, by extension, with President Tinubu.

“You are seated with us boldly so that the world will know that you are not into corner-corner politics. You are standing with Fubara, and because you are standing with Fubara, your support is for Mr. President,” the governor declared.

Fubara reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the President, stating that his confidence remained rooted in faith and a deep understanding of the political terrain. He dismissed criticisms and attacks against his administration, insisting that only those who lacked clarity resorted to noise and distractions.

“We are not barking because we understand. We know where we are going, and we have put mechanisms in place to make the journey smooth,” he said.

The governor described 2026 as a year of “complete liberation” for Rivers State, assuring residents that the objectives of his administration would be fully achieved despite past challenges.

Reflecting on the political battles faced by his government, Fubara said adversity had strengthened his resolve rather than weakened it.

“The journey wasn’t easy, but we give God all the glory that we survived and became stronger. Those things we could not fight taught us lessons and prepared us for greater victories,” he stated.

He further assured political supporters and stakeholders that his administration would never compel anyone to act against their conscience, stressing that governance would continue with transparency, courage, and commitment to truth.

“We have not lost anything. It is only a matter of time. With the speed and focus of this year, we will recover all lost grounds,” the governor added.

Fubara expressed optimism that history would be kind to his administration, predicting that books would one day be written about the struggles, resilience, and ultimate triumph of his government.

He concluded by wishing Rivers people a peaceful and prosperous New Year, praying that 2026 would be a year of completion, restoration, and the dismantling of obstacles to progress.
