“June 12: Hon. Akinjide Kazeem Akinola Hails MKO Abiola’s Sacrifice, Urges Nigerians to Defend Democracy”

A chieftain of the APC and aspirant for Egbeda Ona-ara federal house of representative, Hon. Akinjide Kazeem Akinola has extended warm Democracy Day greetings to the good people of Egbeda–Ona Ara Federal Constituency, the entire Oyo State, and Nigerians at home and in the diaspora as the nation commemorates June 12 – Democracy Day.

In his message, Hon. Akinjide described June 12 as a sacred reminder of Nigeria’s hard-won democratic journey, one that was paid for with courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the will of the people.

“Democracy Day is not just a public holiday; it is a moment of reflection and renewed commitment to justice, equity, accountability, and good governance. It reminds us that the power of leadership ultimately belongs to the people.”

Hon. Akinjide called on Nigerians, especially the younger generation, to continually remember the historic sacrifice of Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola (MKO Abiola), whose selfless struggle and ultimate price laid the foundation for the June 12 legacy.

“We must never forget the courage and sacrifice of MKO Abiola and all heroes of democracy. Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder that freedom is not free, and democracy must be protected, nurtured, and strengthened by every generation.”

Addressing the people of Egbeda–Ona Ara, Hon. Akinjide reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to their welfare, development, and political inclusion, noting that true democracy must translate into improved livelihoods, security, education, and opportunities for all.

He further urged leaders at all levels to embrace people-centered governance and called on citizens to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and actively engaged in the democratic process.

Prayers for the Nation;
Hon. Akinjide offered prayers for Nigeria, Oyo State, and Egbeda–Ona Ara:

“I pray that Almighty Allah continues to guide our leaders with wisdom, compassion, and integrity. May He strengthen our unity, heal our divisions, and bless our land with peace, progress, and prosperity. May Nigeria continue to rise in dignity among the comity of nations.”

He concluded by wishing Nigerians a meaningful Democracy Day celebration and encouraged everyone to keep hope alive in the promise of a better and more inclusive Nigeria.
