BREAKING: Planned Coup Forced Gen Musa Out as CDS, Defence Analyst Steve Okwori Reveals

By Jamisi News

Abuja, Nigeria — Defence and Security analyst, Steve Okwori, has shed light on the circumstances surrounding the exit of General Christopher Musa as Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). According to Okwori, the October 2025 coup plot, which saw 16 officers arrested for attempting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government, directly influenced Musa’s departure.
In an exclusive interview with Trust TV, Okwori stated that General Musa likely had no prior knowledge of the coup attempt and became a “victim of circumstance” due to his position as CDS.
Okwori explained:
“That was what led to that planned coup and led to the exit of the current Minister of Defence that we have. I want to believe that he doesn’t have knowledge about the planned coup; he only became a victim of circumstances because he was the Chief of Defence Staff.”
The revelation highlights the high-level impact of internal security threats on Nigeria’s military leadership, raising questions about oversight and intelligence within the Defence Headquarters.
