Ibadan Agog As President Tinubu’s Arrival Halts Activities, Brings Joy To Historic Coronation Of The 44th Olubadan
The ancient city of Ibadan, Oyo State, on Friday was transformed into a carnival of culture and celebration as an array of traditional rulers, political heavyweights, and eminent personalities gathered for the historic coronation of Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Earlier in the day, the arrival of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, brought all activities to a momentary halt. His presence electrified the atmosphere, filling the city with excitement and delight. Streets across Ibadan came alive with cheers as residents and well-wishers thronged major routes, their faces glowing with happiness at the President’s symbolic participation in this cultural milestone.
Before the President’s grand entrance, the city had already welcomed a distinguished roll call of royal fathers and political leaders. The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, led the early dignitaries, arriving with an entourage of traditional aides, Muslim leaders, and senior members of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA). He was warmly received by the Oyo State Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Mojeed Mogbonjubola, and senior government officials.
Also in attendance were revered monarchs, including the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade; the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Adeoye; the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale; and the Olugbo of Ugbo Kingdom, Oba Fredrick Obateru Akinruntan.
Political figures were not left out, as former Ogun State Governors, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Otunba Gbenga Daniel, joined other dignitaries to honor the occasion at Mapo Hall, the historic venue of the coronation.
