The Oyo State Government has extended the security curfew imposed across 10 local government areas bordering the Old Oyo National Park, as authorities continue efforts to rescue schoolchildren and teachers abducted in the recent attack in Oriire Local Government Area.
Governor Seyi Makinde approved the 24-hour extension after security agencies advised that ongoing operations required additional time to intensify search-and-rescue efforts. The curfew, which was initially introduced for 48 hours, is part of the state’s response to growing security concerns in communities surrounding the Old Oyo National Park, an area that has experienced repeated incidents linked to criminal groups.
According to the state government, the affected local government areas are Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba. Residents have been urged to comply fully with the restrictions and cooperate with security personnel conducting operations in the area.
