UNIBEN Optometry Admissions Controversy: Parents Raise Alarm

A parent has raised serious concerns over the Doctor of Optometry program at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) for the 2025/2026 session. According to the parent, UNIBEN initially admitted 350 students into the program, issuing admission letters and receiving acceptance fees. Students reportedly resumed lectures in November, only to be told months later that only 150 students can remain due to quota and accreditation issues.

The parent claims many students are now facing difficulties with clearance and exam eligibility, with exams scheduled to begin in March. There has reportedly been little communication from the university regarding how the final selection of 150 students will be made.
