Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, has dismissed claims circulating online that his father admitted to tapping anyone’s phone, describing the reports as false and misleading.
Reacting to the growing controversy, Bashir stated clearly that at no point did his father make such an admission, stressing that the narrative being pushed by some commentators is a deliberate misrepresentation aimed at stirring public outrage.
According to him, the former governor’s comments have been taken out of context and weaponised to suit political agendas, urging Nigerians to rely on verified statements rather than sensational headlines.
Bashir warned that the spread of inaccurate information not only damages reputations but also undermines public discourse, calling on media platforms and social media users to uphold responsible journalism.
He reaffirmed that Bashir El-Rufai would continue to challenge false narratives and defend the factual record whenever his family is unfairly targeted.
